JIM COTCHETT
Head of National Accounts, First Eagle Investment Management
Jim grew up in Columbia, SC, and attended and graduated from the University of South Carolina. He is a lifelong Gamecock as well as both of his parents. Jim has been married for 25 years to his wife Karen and has been blessed with three daughters: Eliza (22), Jane (17), and Margaret (15).
After beginning his career, as many in Charlotte, at First Union and working eight years in banking, he found his way to the asset management side of the industry, working for several money management firms. For the past 11 years, he has proudly worked for First Eagle Investment Management in several roles and is currently the Head of National Accounts. He has an amazing team and spends a good deal of his time in New York as well as on the road calling on clients made up of the largest broker-dealers in the industry.
“One of the events in my life I am so grateful for occurred on Jan 1, 2011,” he says. “My closest friends and I had just been “released” by our trainer and were trying to figure out how to stay fit. Soon thereafter, while attending a holiday party, I overheard another friend mention a bunch of guys planning a workout at AG Middle School on New Years Day. The rest is history. We attended the first day of what is now a global movement known a F3 (Fitness | Fellowship | Faith)! Of course, the fitness portion of F3 is important, but I did not know what I was missing in life, which was fellowship and eventually a strengthening of faith. Not only did I gain an amazing support group, but it really pushed me to be a leader in my community and within F3 – serving as head of expansion for eight years and most recently leading F3 Foundation! I will always be grateful to F3 Founders Dave Redding and Tim Whitmire for this gift.”

- Dancing Experience: From grades 5–8, I took Ballroom Dancing (from the same woman who taught my mother, Mrs. Sloan, in Columbia.) Also, as a native South Carolinian, I can shag…
- Fun Fact: I mainly went to those ballroom classes because we stopped to get ice cream on the way home!
