DANCING FOR LEVINE CANCER: PROJECT PINK
Diagnostic Radiologist, Charlotte Radiology
Dr. Amy Sobel is Division Head of the Breast Imaging Section at Charlotte Radiology, which provides comprehensive breast care to patients in the greater Charlotte region in partnership with Atrium Health Levine Cancer. She has been with Charlotte Radiology for 25 years since completing her residency and fellowship training at the University of Virginia and has been Section Chief for the past 5 years. Dr. Sobel and her colleagues at Levine Cancer have built a robust multi-disciplinary breast program that is patient-centered and community focused, providing annual breast cancer screening to over 130,000 women and comprehensive diagnostic services to over 40,000 women yearly.
Dr. Sobel recently completed a master’s degree in public health from UNC Chapel Hill. She is working to translate her 30+ years of healthcare delivery experience into meaningful action for a healthier Charlotte population. Her interests focus on addressing disparities in the cancer diagnostic and treatment space so that all people are afforded the same opportunity to access care and live a healthy and productive life.
Marrying her two passions, Amy is dancing for Levine Cancer: Project Pink. Project Pink is a joint pursuit between Atrium Health Levine Cancer and Charlotte Radiology, providing local uninsured and underinsured women access to life saving screening and diagnostic mammography. Project Pink helps women in underserved communities overcome barriers to preventive breast health care and to improve overall well-being and survivorship. The program serves over 1,000 women in the greater Charlotte area every year, hosting 30+ mobile mammography screening days in communities where the need is greatest. Over 75% of women served have never had a mammogram or are past-due. With additional funds raised, Project Pink can reach even more women in our community, extending the benefits of early breast cancer detection to save even more lives.

About Levine Cancer: Project Pink
Levine Cancer: Project PINK was established to increase access to life-saving mammography screenings for uninsured women. Donations to The Project PINK Fund allow for “Free Mammography Days” in underserved communities where the need is highest. In partnership with Charlotte Radiology, the program’s state-of-the-art mobile breast center travels throughout the community offering free screenings in a convenient, compassionate environment.
Levine Cancer: Project PINK allows eligible women a free screening mammogram and follow-up care (diagnostic screening, ultrasound, biopsy) if recommended.
Levine Cancer: Project PINK Plus provides women who have an existing breast lump or other concern the opportunity to receive a free diagnostic mammogram and follow-up care.
If there is a positive cancer finding during either program, the patient will be navigated throughout the entire treatment from diagnosis to survivorship.
