Partner, Berkeley Capital Advisors
Rad von Werssowetz was born and raised in Atlanta, GA. After graduating from Washington & Lee University in Lexington, VA she moved to D.C. to begin her career in commercial real estate. After three fun years in the Nation’s capital working in the tenant rep side of the CRE business, she made the decision to move closer to home and landed in Charlotte. She joined Berkeley Capital Advisors in 2011 and became a Partner in 2015, where she continues to focus primarily on the brokerage of multi-tenant retail anchored assets.
Rad served on the board of Communities in Schools – Charlotte-Mecklenburg for five years. During her tenure at CIS, she co-chaired the annual fundraiser, A Night Out for Kids (formerly known as Lowcountry), and oversaw the board’s Development Committee. In 2021, she joined the board of the Mint Auxiliary, where she served as Co-Chair for the 21’-22’ Room to Bloom season. For the next two years, she chaired the Corporate Sponsorship Committee on behalf of the Auxiliary board.
Rad was first introduced to Wing Haven in 2016 when she and her husband moved to Ridgewood Ave. Their home was across the street from the Elizabeth Lawrence House & Garden. Her paternal grandmother was an avid gardener, and while gardening was not (yet) one of her own passions, Rad found herself drawn to the gardens. Following the birth of her second child, she frequently walked the paths of Wing Haven, seeking the sanctuary (and silence) provided by nature. It was during this time that she started to understand the history of the gardens and how much Wing Haven was doing for our greater Charlotte community. In 2022, she joined the Board and currently serves as Head of the Development Committee.
Her passion in serving and supporting Wing Haven is threefold – first, to honor the legacy of the pioneering female horticulturalists who founded the gardens almost 100 years ago; second, to cultivate awareness of and appreciation for conserving the natural beauty within our city; and third, to ensure the outreach provided to children from low-income and diverse backgrounds (4,000 experiences in 2023) continues. In addition to children, Wing Haven works with challenged adults through Philips Academy and provides health & wellness programming for women at BraveWorks.
She and her husband, Odie, are still neighbors of Wing Haven. They have three children, ages ten, eight, and six, who have all spent many hours in Wing Haven’s SEED Wildlife & Children’s Garden and enjoy the wildlife activity it supports – they once saw two crows steal a snake from a hawk on a tree outside the front gates!

About Wing Haven
Just a few generations ago two extraordinary women named Elizabeth lived and gardened just down the street from one another. Together, they made Ridgewood Avenue in Charlotte, North Carolina, one of the most famous addresses in Southern garden history. Their legacy continues with the addition of an outdoor exploration garden to enhance our guest experience.
The property of Elizabeth and Edwin Clarkson, Wing Haven Garden & Bird Sanctuary, is a respite for birds and other wildlife and a welcoming place to discover the beauty and wonders of nature.
Ten houses down on the same side of the street, the property of internationally celebrated garden writer Elizabeth Lawrence, the Elizabeth Lawrence House & Garden, is a dynamic living laboratory featuring an amazing variety of plants with something in bloom every day of the year.
Adjacent to Wing Haven Garden & Bird Sanctuary, is the SEED Wildlife & Children’s Garden, an outdoor exploration and learning garden for children of all ages.
Together, these vibrant historic and newer properties are known as Wing Haven, a unique destination that inspires passion for the natural world.
